There was a time when storytelling and writing was popular among children. These stories were generally related to animals. Nowadays children keep themselves busy in other types of activities such as computer, internet, and television etc. They don’t get interest in old fashioned curricula but even then writing story is a good habit and more over stories usually give us some morale.
There is an old fable and I intend to write it down here. Once upon a time there was a jungle where a camel and a fox lived together happily. They were friends even though they belonged to different families of animals. They sat together for hours and talked on varied subjects. One day the fox said to the camel, “There is a field where a lot of ripened watermelons are present on other side of the river. We would go there and eat them freely. The camel agreed to its proposal. Next day, they got up early in the morning and were ready to go to the field of watermelons. They went to the bank of the river and started crossing it. In the middle of the river, it was deep. So the fox told the camel if the camel allowed it to climb over its back. The camel happily accepted its proposal and also said joyously, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” In the last they arrived in to the field and started eating watermelons. Soon the fox stomach was filled with watermelons and it started howling. The camel was still eating the watermelons, so it requested the fox not to make noises as the owner of the field might come there. But the fox didn’t heed to its request. Hearing the noises in the field, the farmer immediately reached there with a stick in his hand and the camel got good beating.
Thereafter they soon arrived at the bank of the river and started crossing it as both lived on other side of the river. Before reaching at middle of the river, the fox again requested the camel to allow it to sit on its back. The camel permitted it to sit on its back. As soon as they reached in the middle of the river where the water was deep, the camel dived into the water and the fox drowned there.
Morale: Tit for Tat.
